I’m sure I speak on behalf of everybody at Albion when I say how saddened I was to hear about the passing of our former Minister and good friend The Reverend Barbara Plenderleith, or Barbara as most of us knew her.
At a time of year when we often reflect on the previous month’s events, I have been thinking of Barbara and reflecting on the wonderful life she led over many years.
Barbara was a Christian who lived out her faith in so many ways and to so many people. From a personal point of view, Barbara has always been there for our family, in good times and also some very difficult times. She helped me greatly during my Lay Preacher training with her patient way of teaching, guiding and encouraging me. I’m sure my comments will be echoed by many people.
Whilst myself and everyone at Albion shall miss Barbara, let us remember her wonderful life of Christian service as an example of how we can live and serve as we celebrate the birth of Christ and prepare to enter a new year.
The Funeral and a Thanksgiving Service for the life of Barbara will take place on Friday 12th December at 11am at Albion. There will be a private family cremation service separately.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Francis House or The Carpenter’s Arms, Charlestown URC.
We will livestream the Memorial Service for Barbara on Facebook Live. The link below is to a post announcing this on our Albion Facebook Page.
