Was browsing around today and came upon this website for my old church community. I was born on Penny Meadow and attended Albion Church. I was baptised there on Christmas Day 1949! Have fond memories of the choir (the sermons I recall was the actual name), the whit walks, sunday school and the brownies.

My last visit was my mother's funeral service in 1980 - Alice Collinson. She was a member of the women's guild and secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society.

I have just enjoyed looking through the website and am impressed. It is great to see the work done at Charlestown since I last preached there. The history of Hurst Nook was fascinating. I remember being given a plant after leading worship by Vincent who tended the garden. Eventually I rose to the point where I was invited to preach a few times at Albion itself! They were great days in the NE Manchester District - now no longer. I met Dr T A Chadwick as a teenager at the Bangor Youth Conference one year and I knew Rev Norman Riley as Pastoral Committee convener. But my favourite Albion Group person was Rev Lorraine Mycock when she helped me so much as Church Secretary at Shaw %26 Heyside URC during part of the interregnum. I thought I'd drop you a quick line to send you best wishes from Pat Lomas and myself for the Christmas season. My connections with you through college and the lovely Lorraine [sadly missed] are now somewhat wider! Did you know that a one time member of Albion [Cong!] founded one of my churches, HIll Street [Cong], Cefn Mawr, back in around 1865!

I have just discovered from the records of the London Missionary Society that my grandfather, James P Tattersfield, was ordained at Albion Congregational church on June 28th 1923. He is also said to have been a member of your church before that.

This was a surprise as we thought that he spent all his early life in Yorkshire including his training for the ministry.

I was delighted to find your web site with its excellent photos and good description of the church. What a wonderful looking church.

This is an excellent site and compares well to other church sites in the Methodist and Anglican churches...including the cathedral sites. A real tribute to a church which had the distinction of being 'the Cathedral of Congregationalism.'
I have always regarded it as a privilege to be invited to preach at the Albion.

It brings back many memories looking at the web site. My Grandad, Rev. Dr. T A Chadwick, would be pleased.

I have just been reading a history of the Horsfield/Bradbuy family compiled by Kath Howie (nee Badbury)which includes a section on the Albion Church. Curious enough to find out if you had a website - just to see if it still exists! So glad to read about your current work and witness. I expect to visit the UK in the near future and will "look you up".

I am tracing my family history and have found a marriage took place in 1899 between Patrick (Peter) McEwen and Margaret Bleasdale at the Albion Congregational Church. I am hoping to come to Ashton soon to do more research and visit your church, it looks beautiful in the photos.

Having restored the stained glass windows some years ago I was very pleased to revisit the church again recently. I have visited many churches over the years and can honestly say that the William Morris and Burne Jones windows at Albion are the best I have ever seen
